05/06Demonstration

HELIO HOUSEheliohouse.co.uk

Everyone advertises a savings figure, so nobody believes any of them.

Every installer advertises a savings number, which is why the numbers have stopped meaning anything. This site shows its working instead: five inputs, a chart of what the roof makes against what the house uses during a day, a payback figure that moves as you change things, and a full list of every assumption it made to get there.

Demonstration · built and running

This is not client work. HELIO HOUSE does not exist. We invented the business, wrote everything on it and built the website to show how we would approach this trade. Every price, record and review inside it is made up, nothing you type is sent anywhere, and we are not claiming it won anybody any work.

01The brief

The business we invented, and the person landing on it.

A made-up company is only useful if it is specific enough to argue with. So each one has a real trade, real constraints and a visitor turning up in a particular state of mind.

AThe business
A home energy installer working nationwide: solar panels, battery storage, EV chargers and monitoring. Slow decisions, technical buyers, heavy competition on price.
BWho lands on it
A homeowner with a spreadsheet open in another tab, who has already been given three different savings figures and does not believe any of them.
CWhat the site has to fix
Trust in this market has been spent. The site cannot win it back with a better claim. It can only win it back by showing its working and marking the point where the estimate stops being reliable.

02The decisions

Five decisions, and what forced each one.

Every one of these answers something about the business, not a preference of ours. They are also what makes this site different from the other five.

  1. 01

Lay it out as a quote, not a brochure.

A calculator bolted onto a brochure reads as a way of collecting email addresses. A document that recalculates around a worksheet reads as an estimate.

    On the page

A worksheet stays beside you carrying the current numbers, while a numbered document recalculates from five inputs.

  2. 02

Show the day, not the year.

A battery only makes sense once you can see what the roof makes and what the house uses falling out of step during a day. An annual total hides the entire argument for one.

    On the page

A drawn curve of generation against household use, moving as the inputs change.

  3. 03

List every assumption at the end.

The section a brochure would never include is the one that makes the rest believable. If the working is visible, the answer can be argued with.

    On the page

Every figure the model used, listed with what it assumes and where that number would come from in a real survey.

  4. 04

Say where the estimate stops being reliable.

A model that claims to be right about a roof nobody has looked at is exactly why this market is not believed.

    On the page

A limits section naming what only a survey can confirm, and how far the estimate could move once it has been done.

  5. 05

Ask for a survey, not a quote.

By the time the visitor reaches the end, the arithmetic has done the selling. The right next step is the one that makes the numbers real.

    On the page

The last step books a survey and carries the visitor's own figures with it.

03The build

Nothing in it is shared with the other five.

Six sites built out of the same set of parts would prove nothing. This one has its own typefaces, its own layout, its own drawings and its own working parts, made for it alone.

Typefaces
Clash Display for the numbers, Satoshi for the text
Layout
A worksheet beside a numbered document, §01 to §09
What you can do
Five inputs that recalculate the whole page
Drawings
Day curve and system diagram, drawn by hand, no chart library
Deliberately left out
Unsourced savings claims, countdowns, results behind a form

04The built site

Now use it.

The whole website runs below, inside the frame. Every button, form and slider works, and nothing you type leaves this page.

Starting the HELIO HOUSE demonstration

Everything above the frame is us. Everything inside it belongs to the invented business: its own typefaces, its own colours, its own voice. That is deliberate. An agency that puts its own look on every client site is selling you a template.

05What is missing

Everything that happens after somebody presses send.

A demonstration can only show the front of the job. The rest is where the enquiry goes, who picks it up, what it is allowed to see and how you know it worked.

If HELIO HOUSE were a real business, the ticket, note or quote a visitor builds here would land somewhere real: an inbox, a customer record, a job in the diary, with a name against it and a date it has to be answered by. The words would come from you, the prices from your own books, and we would agree what counts as working before anything got built. That part is most of the job, and no demonstration can honestly fake it.
